Ovens FAQs

  • How does a self-cleaning oven work?

Self-cleaning ovens (pyrolytic ovens) use temperatures of up to 480°C to heat up and loosen residue until it carbonises and turns to ash. During the self-cleaning process – which cleans the whole oven – it is normal for your oven to give off a burnt smell of barbecue, especially if there are thick layers of grime. Once the oven is safe to open, all you need to do is wipe it down with a damp cloth.

Most Electrolux convection ovens feature self-cleaning functions. Both the Electrolux EOC5400AOX 72L Built-in oven with Pyrolytic Cleaning and the Electrolux EOB3434BOX 72L Built-in Oven have Aqua Clean and Steam Cleaning. The Electrolux EOB2400AOX 60cm Built-in Oven features Easy To Clean smooth enamel interiors, to make it easier for you to clean any leftover food particles in your oven.

  • How do I clean between the oven glass panes without disassembling the door?

First, remove the access panel or drawer below the oven door. Then attach a moist glass cleaning wipe to a wire hanger. Slide the wire in from the bottom of the oven door and move the glass cleaning wipe back and forth and side to side between the glass panes. You may also bend the wire hanger to clean hard-to-reach corners. Once you are done, replace the access panel or drawer below the oven door. • What is the difference between a convection oven and microwave oven?

The main difference between a convection oven and a microwave oven is how heat is generated and circulated. Convection ovens use fans to circulate heated air inside the oven. This heats up the whole interior of the oven, ensuring that your food cooks evenly, regardless of which rack it is placed on. As most of our ovens such as the EOC5400AOX 72L Built-in convection oven use the Electrolux UltraFan Plus technology, you can be sure that heat is distributed evenly throughout the oven to give you properly cooked meals.

A microwave oven uses invisible microwaves that interact directly with your food while the inside of the microwave oven is kept cool. The energy in the microwaves is converted into heat, which is used to warm or cook your food. The Electrolux EMS2540X 25L Built-in Microwave Oven features various pre-installed auto cook programs to ensure that you use the most suitable settings for your dish. It also has a Multi-section cooking function, so you can set two cooking programs back to back, especially for those complex dishes.

  • How do I choose which convection oven to buy?

Think about what you will be using the oven for – cooking large food items like turkey or baking bite-sized appetisers and cupcakes? This will help you choose a size that’s right for you.

Depending on the space you have, you can decide between a built-in or standalone convection oven. Most convection ovens also come with glass doors, so you can check on your food while it’s cooking to prevent any blunders. Other features that can help with more precise cooking are the delayed start option and timer.

  • What are the advantages of cooking with a convection oven?

Convection ovens use fans to circulate heated air evenly inside the oven to ensure that your food is cooked thoroughly. The hot air circulating inside the oven also produces superior cooking results; the rush of heat not only speeds up cooking but also results in crispier crusts and juicier meats. Another convection oven advantage is that food is cooked about 25% faster than a conventional oven.

Our convection oven models offer even more benefits. For instance, the EOB8851AAX model allows you to cook dishes with even more precision and control using the Smart Food Probe and Meat Probe functions, to prevent undercooking or overcooking. If you usually cook multiple dishes at one time for big groups or families, then the Electrolux InfiSpace™ 74L is the perfect choice for you!

  • How do I set my oven to self-clean?

To self-clean your oven, follow these simple steps:

    • Remove the oven racks.
    • Set your oven control to “Clean.”
    • Select a cleaning time or choose a cleaning level: light, medium, or heavy. For typical cleaning needs, we recommend that you select a cleaning time of three hours or choose the medium setting.
    • Select “Start.” (To set a delayed start, see your User Guide.)

Note: For safety reasons, the over door will remain locked until the oven cools down. When it is sufficiently cool, the door will automatically unlock.

  • Is it normal for my oven’s fan to run after the oven has been turned off?

Yes, this is normal. The fan stays on for a period of time in order to help cool the oven.
